Why won't AutoPlay wizard launch?

  Pineman100 12:56 29 May 2007

I'm using a friend's laptop as I'm away from home. He runs XP SP2 Home.

When I plug in/switch on my USB digital camera, the computer makes the usual bing-bong sound, but the Autoplay wizard won't launch.

The camera's memory card appears in Windows Explorer as drive E: and can be accessed perfectly well via Explorer. I've looked at drive E: Properties, and on the AutoPlay tab, with Pictures selected, I have checked "Prompt me each time to choose an action". But still the AutoPlay wizard doesn't launch on the desktop when I plug in the camera.

My friend relies on this wizard for transferring his own digital photos on to his computer (he's not very computer-literate) so I need to make sure that it's working properly for him. Can anyone please advise why the wizard won't come up?

Many thanks for any help.

That worked, VoG. Very many thanks.

That's *another* drink I owe you! If we ever meet I shall be broke for a month!
