why is PC Ad's designer so against legibility?

Looking back at old editions, the mag has been legible. So why did recent current editions use a font which turned the text into a grey fog? Or a blue fog in the case of that abortion Issue 100? My theory is that the designer is in the pay of a rival, who's trying to run PC Ad out of business.
Any other views?

Looking at the differences between issues 102 and 103 is what prompted my observations. Why all the foot-dragging before the mag was made more legible?
- apart from the star letter, of course! Why couldn't they have done it months ago?
There has to be more to this than meets the eye.
