Why is my notebook different and SSD help?

Looking at the specifications of the msi notebook gs60 2pm on the msi website it says that there is an intel i7 processor and 256gb ssd as well as 1tb hdd. My laptop is the exact same model however has i5 and only the 1tb HDD, why is this?

Also my hdd broke the other day so i lost all my data. Upon wishing to buy a new system storage SSD preferably i saw that the model specs online issues 2 m.2 SSD ports. However upon opening my notebook to check for any motherboard issues i only see one port available for use whereas the other one has been soldered shut and not accessible to put an adapter to have 2 m.2 SSD ports why is this?

Lastly, would my notebook be able to run on just one 500gb m.2 SSD?

Thanks, any advice/comments would be appreciated :)

Can't find anything specific about the laptop except it might be the MSI GS60 2PM-077UK version. Can't find the model for sale anywhere but Gumtree lists its specs, click here . As it's set to run on a Sata drive I'd go for an ordinary SSD.
