Why do some websites loop back to its home page

When all I want to do is leave the site using the back button.

Example - use search engine, find possible site for info, than cannot get back to search engine for other search results without having to link back to search engine and redo the search.

Am getting pretty annoyed with websites that do not allow the browser to return to the previous site.

Are these just badly written or a cynical ploy to keep you on that website. Is there a way of bypassing this problem apart from not returning to the site.

Thanks for listening

select page that you want, right click mouse, select "open in new window", then close window when finished and you should be back where you started.

Just knew it would be easy, that easy I totally overlooked it.

Many thanks
