What is a good web host with decent customer service in the UK?

Currently I pay £40 per year for my host but the customer service is bad.

Frankly, if you're paying £40 a year, you can't expect much else. That wouldn't even pay the electricity bill for one server.

Take a look at 123-reg.co.uk, they're OK.

Had to post three separate links as the forum thought I was spamming!

I host on the latter two and have found them helpful, have heard so many good things about Heart in the past, thinking of going down the resellers route with them.

One note of caution. A few large hosts and therefore subhosts are using servers based outside the UK.

If you have a generic domain such as .com and want to aim primarily at the UK market, that is a disadvantage in search terms. Geo-location can help re Google, other signals can still see you rank okay but why start with a problem. For a generic domain aimed at the UK, make sure the host has UK servers/IP addresses.
