which file dormat for email

I have scanned a document which i want to attach to an email and i have various options to select from such as PDF, JPEG etc. which is the most suitable for email?

I personally use jpg for pictures and pdf for documents.

Don't apologise. I like the idea of a file doormat - it could clean email of nasties as they enter, have a pleasant greeting on it and be a place for the cat to sit rather than on the mouse mat.

Most people have Adobe Reader (it's free) so can read .pdf documents and jpeg is a good compromise between file size and quality.
