which DVD burner

  Jayne doe 09:45 08 Dec 2004

Hi all. I want to buy a dvd burner for myself but know little about them. Which type should I have? I have looked on Novatech but there is so many and I dont understand the tech stuff. Also I have been running and Asus cd rom player in addition to an asus CD burner for some time now with no problems at all. But if I fit a dvd burner in place of the cd burner will that also play cds/dvds/burn ordinary cds/ etc? Thanks Jayne.

Hi Jayne you could do a lot worse than get a copy of the Jan 2005 PC Adviser which covers this in detail for a range of drives.

I have a NEC ND3500 as it has a 16 speed write for DVD and also writes DL (Dual Layer 8.5Gb) as well as cd's and covers both +R/+RW and -R/-RW.

Going rate around £50
