Hi there im upgrading my pc, i was told the best option was the intel core 2 duo processor and an intel mother board but i was also told that amd athlon 64bit x2 processors are as good and cheaper, but my friend says that amd motherboard dosent accept ddr2 memory and intel one do which make them faster, can someone help me out with this.

There are literally thousands, if not millions, of combinations of AMD and Intel CPUs and motherboards - your friends are seemingly offering limited and somewhat prejudiced views.

I had Intel CPUs for 10 years, but now have an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ - it delivers excellent performance.

I've never found any difference.

Is it true that amd motherboards cannot use ddr2 ??? thats my main concern.

There was a suggestion a couple of years ago that AMD would skip DDR2 and go direct from DDR to DDR3, but this has not been the case.
