I run a Mesh Computer, using Vista with all service updates. I use Creative Soundblaster X-Fi and the computer says that the drivers are up to date. (I have reloaded them as a precaution). For the past couple of weeks I have had no sound and the sound icon on the task bar has a red line running through it and a message -No audio output device is installed. I have checked that all connections inside the computer are ok but have been unable to find out what the problem is. Anybody got any ideas?
1. Right click the sound icon in the tray at the bottom right hand side of the computer. 2. Select playback devices 3. Select "No audio output devices installed"then right click it 4. Click "Show disabled devices" 5. Click "Properties" 6. Click "enable"
Thanks for that, Fruit Bat. I get as far as clicking on "show disabled devices" but then find that the three boxes at the bottom, "Configure", "Set Default" and "Properties" are all greyed out. Can u help further, please?
1. Control Panel 2. Add Harware 3. Click next 4. CLICK INSTALL THE HARDWARE THAT I MANUALLY SELECT FROM THE LIST 5.Go down to Sound and Video controllers 6.Select the sound card (creative) 7. Double click under model Creative 8.Click next
