When my Desktop pc downloads, all other devices can't connect.

Hi, so the title really says it all. I have a custom built desktop pc (from PC Specialists) currently i am using a wifi card as my room it too far away from my hub for an ethernet cable. Everytime i try to download large files (off the internet, off Steam, Origin, ect ect) all other devices connected via wifi will suddenly not beable to connect to the internet.

I have tried contacting PC Specialists about this and they keep assuring me that theres nothing wrong with the pc and that i should contact my provider. As i live in a house with 3 other people who all use the wifi all the time, it gets very annoying. it also means i can only download games or updates when no one else is around to get annoyed.

I have a N900 Wireless Dual Band PCI Express Adapter installed on my desktop and i have a BT Home Hub 3.0 with BT Infinity Broardband connection. this only effects devices connected to our hub via Wifi. devices connected via ethernet arnt affected at all.

It might also be helpful if i mention that it seems that all the devices can connect to the hub but then cannot obtain the IP addresses of the websites/servers they are trying to connect to.

This problem doesnt happen with just browsing the internet or streaming a video for example. it only occurs when i download large files (like games off steam or origin).

I have tried everything and i am out of idea's. any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Quite simply your PC is using all the available wifi bandwidth during the download.

the only way you can restricthis is if the router is capable of sharing bandwidth you need to look under wifi setting in the router to restrict the bandwidth to your PC

of course this means the download wil take longer.

Alternately look at using something like Homeplugs to connect the PC to the router using ethernet cables and the house wireing.
