I have recently installed Nero Express software, and when I run it, it asks me if I would like to enable DMA. What is this and what are the benefits, if any?

It should be enabled by default on any PC that is newer than the Ark.

direct memory access. It means data is written to and from memory, it by passes the cpu. So it makes it quicker.

Direct memory access,IDE channels usually set to "DMA if available" as it is usually quicker at transferring data.
