whats the difference?

  2020 12:45 09 Jan 2005

hello, could you please explain what the difference is between a tv/pc card and a graphic card?

A TV card allows you to watch/record TV on the PC.

A graphics card is what drives the monitor. The graphics are sometimes on the motherboard rather than a seperate card.

As Graham says, some TV cards also allow you to use them as capture cards eg download a video onto your PC.

are they not all capable of capturing video etc. if i want to be able to record tv programmes and save them to disc do i just get a tv card?

Yes, but you will need to ensure it has the capture facility included - not all tv cards may provide this facility.

You will have to check the cards for the facilities of each one, they do vary. Whether you can save to disc is not known at this stage!

Bear in mind you will also need an aerial connection.
