There is a precedence given to arithmetic operators. Multiply and divide take precedence over add and subtract. So your scientific (so-called) calculator is correctly evaluating what would be better expressed as 1+(2*3)=7
VoG is right,logically. resistance is futile.
thought so, b.o.d.m.a.s. rule brackets over division,multiplication,addition subtraction
Try getting a calculator that uses REverse Polish Notation (Hewlett Packard used to make them). Then you can't go wrong.

Depends where you put the parenthesis(without VoG is right) with,could go either way.
