What was the name of the game...

... in which you had a rectangular set of colored blocks, you could double-click anywhere where two or more same-coloured blocks were adjacent, they would disappear and the blocks above/to the left would fall/slide. The more blocs you got joined-up, the higher the score escalted.

I remember you had the option to have letters A, B, C, D, E, F, instead of colours...

anyone remember it ?

bejewlled?

  daba 23:48 09 May 2008

no that wasn't it - rossgolf

i think bejewelled was one of the fancy high-def "arcade" style games similar, might even be one that got into the pub machines. The one i used to have was a basic no frills pc version

Tetris?

  daba 00:00 10 May 2008

not tetris either - Conny

this was just a simple grid of randomly coloured blocks - nothing "coming at you" like tetris, you just tried to join-up as many like-coloured blocks to get best score.

I saw it on a palm pc first, then got hold of a PC version

It was called "SameGame"

I had it on my PC, but here's a web-based flash version
