what speed memory?

  SmileyNoBike 12:07 27 Nov 2007

I am building a new system, but it has been a few years since my last build and some things have changed slightly, ie different memory speeds!

I will be purchasing the following (unless someone can offer an alternative for similar value)
MSI P35 NEO-F Intel P35 Socket 775 PCI-E DDR2 SATA II
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 1333 FSB
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB.

I would like to add 2 Gig (either 1x 2048 or 2x 1024 modules)of memory but am unsure whether to use 677 or 800MHz memory. Also what's with the unbuffered/non ecc details. Does this make any difference to performance?

The PC will be used for general duties (surfing, office apps) & gaming.

Cheers for your time and advice

The Motherboard you intend buying supports DDR2 6400 Speed click here

But why don't you get the Asus Striker Extreme??

Regarding buffered and ecc if you get the wrong type it won't work.
I would get my memory from Crucial personally as they guarantee it will work click here
