What screen resolution for 22" monitor

  Sturmey 01:21 11 Nov 2003

Just wanted to know what screen resolution other people use with a 22" monitor, I have mine at 1280x1024 (85hz) In the manual tho it says recommended resolution is 1600x1200 but this makes everything far too small, I changed the font size from normal to 120dpi but I just couldn't get on with how small everything looked at 1600x1200 so whats best for a 22" monitor 1280x1024 or 1280x1024?

I mean 1280x1024 or 1600x1200?

use the resolution that is comfortable to your own eyes.whats good for me may not be good for you.if you download aida32 click here and click on display/monitor on the left,it will tell you the maximum resolution and all the modes it supports.

also in control panel/display/settings/advanced/monitor tick the box that says "hide modes this monitor cannot display" for refresh rates and then choose the highest available.

I use 1280x1024 with 21" and have the biggest icons available.I also found them rather small but icons aren't the only probs I found.I have a few games that simply refuse to let me alter the screen size and 640x480 looks crap on a huge screen.

Have a 19" monitor and use 1600x1200 without any problems. But lots of people look at it and say they can't see a thing. No point having a high resolution if you are only going to put extra strain on your eyes.

Thanks, I will stick with 1280x1024 as it seems the most comfortable.

As stated, it's what you can work comfortably with that's the key, not some predefined setting.

The older you are the harder it is to work with very high resolutions.
