I've tried it & the start-up screen says Intel Pentiun-S running at 200MHz. I thought 200MHz Pentiums were MMX but this isn't.

As far as I can remember the MMX started with the P166. It's possible that some models aimed for business was without the MMX as it may have proved a cheaper option at the time.

Could be wrong but its sounds a good theory.

They went up to 200MHz - and MMX chips started at 166MHz - thus there was an overlap.

As MMX versions had MMX and a larger cache, the 166MMX was significantly better than a 200 standard.

sorry MMX chips started at 133 apparently - never saw any below 166MMX tho'

Thanks, 200MHz was before MMX, well I've learned something.
