I am interested in buying a new pc but i don't have a clue what to buy. Its primary purpose will be for gaming but i will also want to use it to play and burn cds and dvds and i will use it for school work. I have about 1200 euro to spend. Is that enough to get a decent gaming pc? if so what would you suggest i buy?

that is about £800 and the super budget offerings in the mags charts will give you an idea of what you could get for that sort of money

smcg69, as it's mainly for gaming, the three main considerations are:

ii)Graphics card
iii)Amount of RAM.

In order, a Pentium 4 or Athlon XP/64 CPU rated at 3GHz or above to get the best out of the graphics card. To play the latest games at decent settings, you should look to having an Nvidia 6600GT or better. As to the amount of RAM, you would need 1GB of RAM(or 1.5GB according to some).

You might struggle to get a system at the ideal specification for just over £800 :(

There are some good base units on this site that meet your requirements and are in your price rangeclick here

HTH, dagwoood.
