is there any test i can run to determine if it is hardware problem?

  spuds 12:09 25 Apr 2006

I keep getting a similar message, and I was informed by the local computer technician that a component was likely to be on its way out, but he was unable to say what, and after about a month, I am still waiting. My problem (I think) seemed to have started when I fitted some new memory chips!.

It is a laptop though so does it mean i am in trouble if it is hardware?

  Granger 13:36 25 Apr 2006

The links Woodchip posted suggest tests

  Marios 13:59 25 Apr 2006

I can see a suggestion or two but no test as such and it looks difficult to mess with BIOS etc plus it is a laptop we are talking about.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL means that an application with a lower priority is trying to take CPU time away from an application with higher priority. The higher priority process may be an important system application that the machine can't run without, so Windows may not allow it to happen.

Go through the steps at this link and in your case maybe starting with A Stop 0x0A error as Windows XP is already installed.

As a hardware fault it may be your PSU or bad memory,
the link may help determine what is wrong, but you may need to change components as a process of elimination....

No PSU, it's a Laptop. Otherwise I would have suggest it

PS sometimes a Complete reinstall will solve the problem. Only other thing left for you to test is memory, Without takeing the coputer appart. Also it's worth following the BIOS check

Sorry ,silly me.....
As its a lappy you can sometimes get this message from overheating......
