What does 'Bump' mean ?

I keep reading 'bump'.I assume this means repost the thread ?If so,can you repost it without adding any comments?

Many messages slip down the lists before they can be read by someone who may be able to help

The "bump" method is a means of adding a message to bring the original request back to the front of the queue where it can be seen by more people.

It is not necessary (or desirable) to repost a request for help as multiple posts lead to split responses.
