I currently have a 56K Modem
Win ME
Pentium 3 733 with 256 RAM

My lad's mate has broadband. My lad moans that our computer is too slow now.

How do I go about checking if I can get it and how much is it please?

Wife tells me that tea is ready so wont be able to post back immediately sorry. Will have to log off then back on later. Another reason for changing eh?

For all you could ever want to know click here

You'll wonder why you waited so long, it's such a vast improvement over the old "pedal power" dial up system.

If you're in an NTL area their broadband service is excellent. I switched to their 600k service about a month ago. Like pops says, you'll wonder why you waited so long; I certainly wish I'd switched over sooner. The NTL site is click here

click here to check availability of BT Broadband (ADSL)

click here to check availability of NTL broadband (cable)

click here to check availability of BlueYonder broadband (cable)

Note that if BT can supply ADSL, then there are any number of ISPs who will re-sell ADSL to you, most of them cheaper than BT. Most people agree that if you can get cable broadband, you should, rather than ADSL.

I'll follow up the advice/links and post back if I'm stuck.
