What are my options for direct PC to PC connection

  djo 13:49 22 Nov 2007

I need to directly connect 2 PC's to each other for work purposes (they run separate pieces of equipment). Both PC's are running windows XP. Neither PC is connected to a network. Each PC has the following sockets available: USB, RS232 and ethernet socket (I've got hold of a network cross-over cable, a male-male usb cable and should be able to get hold of an RS232 cable). Can anyone suggest how to go about connecting the PC's together and what I would need to do to enable the PC's to see each other?

Use the Network Crossover cable to connect the ethernet socket on PC1 to the ethernet socket on PC2. Then run the Network Setup wizard (which can be found in the control panel) on PC1 and follow the instructions.....

You can also use (over a short distance) a USB-USB connection - it has to be a special type though.
