Interesting - want it in my postings and will add to it when I get a chance.

It seems it will be problem for many of our existing programmes; just when we have got them to work with XP.

Vista?; I don`t think I will be among the first purchasers.

FE: Have you experienced any problems; (if you are testing Vista).

Can you tell me how you went to see if Vista would run the programs?
Also have you either downloaded Visa or sent your tenner off yet for the free disc + P&P
I am considering paying a tenner to experiment with it, not on my laptop I may add.

You install [if it installs] the application and double click its desktop icon. If it opens, it runs. Not every option might be available to use but I'll only find that out by going through all the application options. Or by other people and other forums.

I downloaded it the night it was released ;-)

The FE has been testing Vista longer than most! I guess he's probably allowed to talk about it now that it's at the public beta stage.

What size is the downloaded file, roughly how long will it take to download using a 1Mb BB.( never actually acheived that speed 600k is nearer the mark)
As MS get nearer to the full release will they update the one you have already got.
If it is a success will the downloaded version be able to replace XP as my main O/S, I guess there will no Microsoft support.
Sorry to ask so many questions but am very curious.

Ruskle.

The file is a little under 4gb.

I've not yet downloaded it but may give it a go this evening. On 1GB BB it should take 6 hours or so I think.

A new beta may be released.

As you suggest, there will be no support - it's best to try for a dual boot option unless you fancy installing your current OS again.

  mattyc_92 21:35 12 Jun 2006

Acronis True Image installs, asks for reboot, etc.. like in XP, but wont load up after reboot as it states "You don't have Administrative Privilages"

I must admit, I haven't tried many programs... Just Avast (didn't work at first, but downloaded the latest version from the site and works perfectly) and Zonealarm (doesn't install)

I have also installed "Windows Live Messenger", but that is as far as I have got, as I am still using XP as my main os

  mattyc_92 21:39 12 Jun 2006

The download is 3.12GB for 32-Bit.

Tooks just over 4 hours to download on my 2MB connection, so about 8(ish) hours for you....

There is an update later this year that MS states will allow BETA users to download

You can over-write XP if you wish, but I suggest that you don't as Vista is in BETA stage, so there are bugs + alot of hardware and software don't like Vista
