Interesting - want it in my postings and will add to it when I get a chance.

You install [if it installs] the application and double click its desktop icon. If it opens, it runs. Not every option might be available to use but I'll only find that out by going through all the application options. Or by other people and other forums.

I downloaded it the night it was released ;-)

The file is a little under 4gb.

I've not yet downloaded it but may give it a go this evening. On 1GB BB it should take 6 hours or so I think.

A new beta may be released.

As you suggest, there will be no support - it's best to try for a dual boot option unless you fancy installing your current OS again.

The whole point of a BETA is to test it, I wonder what I'm doing eh ;-))

Up she goes.

since the first technical beta release, and now I'm using the public beta. The software has come a long way since the early days, and no doubt there's a way to go yet. The public release is a very important part of the beta cycle, because it gets the software into a huge user-base. That's when the myriad of small issues is revealed, and when the developrs can write fixes into the code. Usually these bug-fixes are relatively simple to write, and Microsoft has some of the best software writers in the business on the case. Vista will change quite a bit over the next few months, but a lot of the changes will be under the bonnet, you and I won't see them.

I'm quite excited about Vista, I think it will get a positive response from the market when it (finally)launches.

As far as I'm aware, you don't "risk screwing up your system" by installing the beta, provided you understand that it's exactly what is says - a beta. The worst that's likely to happen is that a couple of your applications might not run, but the installer should warn you about that before you start. Otherwise, I know of some soundcard-recognition problems. Such things are always an issue with Windows betas - the driver databases aren't as fully loaded as will be the case later on.
