What is activating the dialer?

When ever I start my computer the dialer is activated indicating that something is attempting to dial my ISP. I have been through every application I can find and have deactivated automatic updates etc.

My anti virus software is upto date but that finds nothing and I have the latest version of Ad-aware which again, finds nothing.

I have allowed the dialer to dial in hoping that it would open a web page or some other indication of where it is pointing but nothing except some networking activity.

Anybody got any ideas how I can find out what's doing it please?

Thanks

John

Used to have this problem when running ME. Never did cure it. I always blamed Norton, and they do admit that "some systems" can be affected by their software in this way.

Only stopped when I changed my hard drive and bought XP.

At the top, Tools, Internet Options..., Connections, check "Never dial a connection"

Check the Startup folder on the start menu.

Also go to start, run, type:

msconfig

Click OK.

Click Startup and see if there are any entries that you do not recognise, for reference click here
