Hi all, just flicking through the argos catalogue earlier today (sunday) and come across the digi cams page. I spotted the fuji finepix s5000. Does anyone own one of these beauty's and how does it perform ?. The thing that drew me to it was the SLR styling and massive optical zoom. Antone know how it competes with other cameras in it's price range (£350) ?
Just checked with Bristol Cameras and they have both the Minolta Dimage Z1 and the Fuji s5000 in stock. The Minolta Z1 is £229 and the Fuji is £249. Both have 10x zoom. They say there is very little difference between the two, but the Fuji might just have the edge. Check them out at click here or ring 0117 914 0089 and speak to Gary.
You might also look at the Olympus c730UZ or C740uz range very similar spec prices even in Jessops comparable so there MUST be cheaper deals around. I bought on 2 weeks ago in Oman and gave it a good testing in the desert seems to be working fine and is Dust proof.
Epoc. Yes you are right. The Dimage Z1 is, to all intents and purposes an SLR, so is the Fuji s5000, that is you are looking (effectively) through the lens. Go to this site click here and type the cameras into the search engine. Does the Fuji s5000 and dimage Z1 look like an SLR? Now try the Olympus c730 and c740 do they look like SLRs? Like jonnytub I much prefer something that looks and feels like an SLR than a compact.
