Wfcpuse, what is it?

  Valvegrid 20:30 02 May 2004

It's given illegal operation a couple of times on startup.

I've Googled it, but can find no reference whatsoever to it. I suspect it could be either Dr Watson or System Information tools, which I've now removed. What do you think please?

Sorry, I should know better, Windows 98SE.

Nothing here on searching either.

What happens if you disable it in msconfig?

Thanks for checking, there's nothing in msconfig that I wouldn't expect to be there, having said that the graphics card runs at startup which is a WinFast A180B from WinFox, so I think the WF bit gives it away.

Anyway, all appears to work after I've clicked on OK and it pops up so infrequently I think I may have to live with it. I'll leave the post open for a while just in case.

I got the name wrong, this time I've copied the whole thing:

"WFCPUUSE caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at 0004:00001e66"

USER.EXE is user interface application in the Windows System folder.

Any ideas?
