1. Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer.

2. In Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cpl
3. In Vista, click Start and type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER: inetcpl.cpl

The Internet Options dialog box will appear.

4. Click the Advanced tab.

5. Under 'Reset Internet Explorer settings', click 'Reset'. Then click 'Reset' again.

6. When Internet Explorer finishes resetting, click 'Close' in the 'Reset Internet Explorer Settings' dialog box.

Now Start Internet Explorer.

Hi Woolwell,

That was one of the first things I tried, made no difference, but thanks for the help.
I have deleted and re-installed IE8,yet again no change.Have checked for tool bar plug-ins,none found.Am now running another virus scan.
