Two of the webpages, AOL and Ancestry.co.uk, that I have tried to access through both Mozilla and IE8 have fallen apart. They appear as a vertical list of links, none of which work. Is this my problem or theirs? If it is my problem, how do I solve it? Help please.

Try running ATF to clear temp files; click here

I see ATF is for Windows 2000 and XP. Unfoetunately I have Vista.

Ancestry seems fine to me and I have Vista. Sounds like a problem at your end. You could clear temp internet files (IE8) and browser cache (Firefox) and see if that solves the problem. You may need to run a virus and malware check too.

As Woolwell, works ok for all accounts in Vista.

Maybe try this.

Flushing the dns cache

In Vista right click the command prompt option and select run as admin, then type,
ipconfig /flushdns and press enter
net stop dnscache and press enter
net start dns cache and press enter

With Xp you normally have to do a reboot to get it to work.Does not mention it with Vista.So not sure whats best to do.

Should have added a small space after ipconfig and forward slash or it will not work.
