Web pages & web sites

A friend of mine is thinking of setting up a web page to advertise on. Has anyone idea roughly what somebody would charge to design the web site (a basic one with a few pictures would do)and how much it would cost to have their own url? They have said they would like links so that when you do a google search it finds the page too. Any indicators would be cool. Thanks

A webdesigner? £30 to £300 per hour. Varies a lot. Do you get what you pay for? Not necessarily.
If anyone offers to improve the site's ranking for money, tell `em to hike it.

Domain name? c.£10 per year.

Webspace? £50 per year for decent quality.

Links? Not quite how the pagerank system works these days.

(Sorry that it's brief; gotta dash in a mo).

Well, you could design it youself. Get youself a decent Freeware editor, and DIY. It works out a lot cheaper and I get a lot of fun out of doing my own. As you get more advanced go to the library and take out a CSS book, which really dose make your site look great and then publish!
