web page search results

I am in the process of producing an online store. When the store is published I would like to know how to get in the top 3 search results when a Google search or other search engine search is performed.

Any information is appreciated.

Buy a controlling interest in Amazon or sell something sought after that no-one else stocks.

wants to be in the top three. As there are billions of pages out there in cyberspace, you either need a product that nobody else has got, or loads of money to splash out on advertising!

Sorry, but that's the way it goes.

Thanks for responses. Maybe I was a little optimistic with "top 3", however, is there any way of increasing my chances of the site being near the top ?

The way to come at the top of the Google list is to make your site unique.

When answering this question - which crops up regularly - I always use the same illustration. Publish a site about how to breed purple-crested Andalusian ferrets and I'll guarantee that within six weeks you'll be right at the top of the Google return list. Publish a site about copyright infringement on the internet and you'll probably be at number 6,000 on the list, if you're lucky.

It's all about unique characteristics, and content. Work on your content, keeping it fresh, and regularly updated. Try to establish reciprocal links with other relevant sites, so that traffic is driven to you from their pages, and vice versa.

Google doesn't tell the world everything about how it rates sites; it uses a very complex system, much of which is highly confidential. One thing that is taken into account however, is the way that your site is accessed from external links.

you can pay to be at the top with a sponsored ad, you have to experiment with meta tags/data to get to the top, my site comes up within the top 3 with a lot of keywords i see appropiate and most of them comes up at number 1. though i feel if your setting an online store there are millions it might be more difficult rather than a specialist site

but the only thing i could think of it sponsored ad on google if you want the easy way
