Web Cam Setups?

  mikeystipe 17:30 09 May 2010

I'm wanting to setup something like the following for a friend of mine who runs a hotel.

1) Wireless webcam to view the reception/bar area
2) Wired webcam attached to outside of building to give a view of the surrounding area (sea/mountains,etc)- with link to website.

Kit being used is a PC using Windows Vista, Wireless BT Hub.
I would expect to have to connect the Wired Webcam back to the hub using standard ethernet cable - Am I limited on length of cable I can use?

Any ideas regarding suitable webcams and relevant technical advice would be appreciated.

I can't offer any knowledgeable advice at all, but I found the following, which might be some help: click here

Have a look at the Dlink range of IP Cameras under both the Home and Business sections

I have set these for a hotel and a residental property using one of the Dlink wireless products and have had no problems

Max length of an ethernet (RJ45) cable is 100m, so you should be OK.
