Is it possible to run SFC without the W98SE disk, and if so, how?

As far as I know you can only do this if there is a copy of the Windows cab files somewhere on your HDD. The SFC replaces errant system files with pristine ones from the Windows disk.

You can run it, but it may ask for the CD if it finds a problem.

I'm going to tick this as resolved, this article from Technotiger's link seems to cover everything I need. click here

Thanks again!

Hi Nellie, If the SFC says that you need a file replacing and you haven't got the CD then you can e-mail me if you wish and I'll send the missing files for Win98SE to you.
All the Best for Xmas.
