W98 not recognising 256KB ram Card

This one sounds easy but I cannot find an answer at Microsoft support base so PCA.ers...

I'm running W98 on Aopen AX6BC board which has only 3 slots for ram.

Has been Slot 0-128K; slot 1-128K.

Upon putting new 256K card into slot 2, System Properties correctly gives 511K but Belarc Advisor software only still shows Slots 0 & 1 as above .. no 256K.

If switch the 256K to slot0 then SysProp still OK
at 511K and Belarc gives Slot0-256K, slot1-128K.. but still no slot2.

Belarc does have footnote: 'Memory slot contents may not add up to Installed Memory if some memory is not recognized by Windows'.

Can sombody please explain why some ram is not recognised and advise if I need to tweak W98 for it to recognise slot2 or where to look to see how much memory it is actually using.

Sorry all .. just a little confusion with the KB's and MB's on my post.

If it's going to recognise it anywhere I would think it will be in the BIOS.
Re-boot, press DEL to go into the BIOS and see if you can find a box relating to slot 2 anywhere.
