Can I change the background of the desktop to my own choice with say a *.jpg.
If so please advise how to do it?
Thanks David

Thanks for replies.
One snag, the background picture changes the colour of the task bar - the colour of the background shows through the task bar.
Any ideas please to stop this?
Thanks David

Control Panel, Appearance and Personalisation, Personalisation, Window Color and Appearance, Untick Enable Transparency and choode the colour you like.

Can't find an option to untick the task bar transparency for W7, please help?
Thanks David

If you are on the Window Color and Appearance page of Personalisation then it is a little box underneath the panel of colours which says "Enable Transparency." If it is ticked then untick it.

Incidentally you don't have Windows 7 Starter Edition on a netbook do you? If so that option may not be there as Starter Edition is very limited on Aero appearance.

I prefer the claasic view which provides total NON Transparency, however if I select any other background option, you can see icons showing through on say IE.
I Tried this-
I selected Windows basic, I selected solid colour from the colour panel, but there is no Tranparency option to un-tick (W7 Home).
I like the classic option with no icons showing through IE, but it does not display Aero options, hence my query.
Your help again please
Thanks David
