Volume control disappeared

  Meshuga 20:32 26 Dec 2003

The volume control icon in my task bar has disappeared and the box in vol, control properties
where you put a tick to show the icon already has
a tick in it but is greyed out and the adjustment slider is at its lowest but cannot be moved.
Any suggestions gratefully received. Win ME in use. Meshuga.

also check that your sound is being used by your sound card and not your modem

control panel/sounds and audio devices

hi, do you not what the motherboad/onboard or sound card is called

or even the manufactorer of the pc

drivers can be downloaded and installed if you know what the sound card is

goto control panel/sound and audio devices

click audio tab or something similar and it should say what sort of sound you have in there..

Thanks johnnyrocker but what is sfc/scannow.

  Meshuga 21:04 26 Dec 2003

[email protected]$?. The machine is a "Time" and in sounds and audio it shows as NVIDIA(R)nForce(TM)Audio.

Start, Run, type 'sfc/scannow', OK. It checks and restores damaged files. I'm not sure this works in ME, mind.

ME does not have sfc.
