VLC player, plays video blue

When ever I try to play a movie in the latest version of VLC media player it looks saturated with blue. I've reinstalled it but its still the same, the video plays fine with windows media player

mine played very jerky and also colours breajking up - WMV played it fine

I've never had a problem with VLC when running it in windows, though I did have the same problem ie 'saturated with blue' when I first ran it on Ubuntu (Hardy Heron).
It was caused by poor drivers for my ATI graphics card.
Probably no help to you at all. But it does get you back to the top of the page.

Mat Alan that was it, I ran the install program again, it gave me the option to remove all old preferences, which I did, reinstalled, and it works fine, thank to all for your help
