Vista too big

  Third Hussar 15:04 27 Aug 2007

I have bought an Acer 5103 laptop, 1GB ram and 120 hard drive, fully expecting a fast machine. I am disappointed and gather the reason is Vista Home Premium. Whilst everything works correctly I understand that Premium includes more than Vista Basic i.e. Aero interface and glass windows, Flip 3D, thumbnail previews, thus requiring greater power. All these things I neither understand nor consider using. Is it possible to remove, or switch off, such facilities and gain the speed I would greatly appreciate. Help appriciated.

sorry copied instead...
What is the best way to turn off aero?

1. Right Click on "My Computer"
2. go to "Proprities"
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4. Under performance go to "Settings"
5. Now click on "Adjust for best performance"
6. Or you can choose what you would like to turn off

My new laptop came with 1 GB ram ( ordered with 2GB ram) is installed now and it was ok then I turned off the sidebar and Vista Home Premium is now faster then XP Pro. What I like to say, get 1 GB ram more and you will be happy.
