Vista Task Scheduler

When I try to access 'Task scheduler' on Vista, a pop-up box tells me "The service is unavailable"
How do I switch on this service please?

go to administrative tools then services and see if it is enabled

Thanks for responding smackheadz, however after clicking services and properties for task scheduler, most functions are 'greyed' out. I have tried to follow 'Configuring how a service is started' in the help section with the same results. C:\Windows\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs , but seems not to be there on looking in sys.32!

I should say though that it is listed as 'started'
