vista advice - Someone must know

  Adz1310 13:51 02 Dec 2008

in the process of buying a new desktop for video editing. What is the difference between vista 32 bit and 64 bit? and which is better?

32bit has a physical 4Gb limit for ram. that includes everything.

64bit can take and use more than 4gb.

You can get drivers and software easily for 32bit.

64bit drivers and software can be hard to locate.

I'm not been cheeky when I say this, but it is said that if you don't know the difference between 32 bit operating system and a 64 bit you should go for the 32 bit version.

I agree totally with cream post.

just been told that the 64 bit will be the future

The future will also be Windows 7 and Vista but many of use prefer to stay with XP. It will be a long time before everything needs and uses 64 bit.
