viruscan problems

  louandel 22:47 03 Jan 2006

I have mcafee virus scan but I have noticed recently that I can send e mails but when I try to send attatchments a window comes up saying virus scan has stopped the mail going out. to try and combat this I have turned off viruscan (as I have done a full scan of my computer and there are no virus's.). The window from mcafee still comes up saying the mail has been stopped.

This is driving me crazy.

Your time is appreciated,

What sort of attachments are they? If they are .exe attachments you will have problems. Your ISP may also block some types of attachments

Turning off your anti virus is never a good idea as you leave yourself open to nasties.

As VoG said what attachments are you trying to send try zipping them up if your using XP right send to compressed folder and then attach the compressed folder.

You do not need to turn the virus scan off, just turn off the "scan outgoing e-mails" within "configure virus scan settings".

By the way, if you contact McAfee online, they are pretty good at resolving problems via their live chat system.
