Virus W32 Welchia

  Baslla321 17:09 24 Oct 2003

Hello my friends ! I bought a new PC and after ten mins Nortons told me that I have the above worm/virus. C/windows/system31/WINS/DLL HOST.exe and unable to fix. I was directed to Symantec but the remedy is too complicated for me.
I am now using my old PC. My ISP says there is nothing they can do. Get a PC technician to help you. Wot LUCK!

Now download and install the patch that VoG mentioned.

And do a manual download of the latest Norton updates and install them. 2 of my friends have recently had this virus (or variants)because they bought computers but did not go on-line for 2 or 3 months so their Norton AVs were way out of date. Sitting ducks for virus attack.
Check your firewall is on, too, if you're running XP.
