Virus infection?

Please Help. My computer has slowed down really badly. I'm running Win2K and when I go into the Windows Task Manager (Processes) there is an executable file called SERVICES.EXE that takes up all of the processing power. After a while this then stops and the System Idle Process is shown. I also have 3 in number of svchost.exe files in there - why 3? I'm running Internet Security 2005 and about 4 weeks ago (while I was away) my partner received an e-mail from Symantec to say that protection had been stopped due to a possible piracy of my copy of Internet Security. She continued to surf the net with no protection (she had no idea!). Could a virus be the problem and how do I get rid of it. Many Thanks Dylan Jones

Many thanks for the tips. Computer now sorted and Symantec mix-up now resolved. Cheers once again.
