Help please, "HIDSERVE.EXE" has appeared on a friends computer running WIN 2000, the computer now only go half way into bootup and then goes back to the beginning and does a restart. Is this a virus and if so how do I get rid of it.
Many thanks in advance.

Can you boot into safe mode? (F8 after POST)

Use explorer to delete Hidserve.exe from c:\windows\system.

then reboot.

Post back here what happens.
