Hi . is it possable to split the files when you record on virtualdub.

I have some compressed files on my hard drive using this but when i try to cut it says it cant do this.

Will the cut only work with uncompressed file,AVI

Virtualdub is a very useful tool and will do this task (it's the main thing I use it for)

The best way of splitting the files is to use the cropping facility (these are like a little marker on a black line)

at the start of the file, click the left crop

at the place you want to split, click the right crop.

Then encode the movie as normal. It will only encode the selected bit (which should be highlighted if done correctly.
