I installed a 60 gig Maxtor hard drive and the virtual memory is showing a
minus number i.e. -124367MB I have tried the BIOS settings and have left
them set on auto. Do you have any idea what could be wrong please? I have a
second 20 gig hard drive and this is showing 13325MB on the virtual memory
field. I am running Windows ME. I used a Packard Bell factory re-install CD to format and put Widows 98 on the upgraded to ME. the original disk was an 18gig hard drive.

That's normal. the hyphen is suppose to be there. Well, It is on mine anyway, and mine is displaying -13000+ of virtual memory space free. Don't panic. If your system is working fine, don't tinker. That's when things tend to go bad!

Don't know about the '-' but virtual memory is the amount of free space Windose has to play with.

So you either have a much larger HD than you think or........
