Video to DVD via Laptop

  2stroketim 14:33 02 Dec 2007

this might have been asked before however did a search on the forum & could't find anything so please bear with me.
Have several videos that I would like to convert to DVD, I also still use a mini dv camcorder that I transfer to video.
The laptop I have runs XP and has a dvd recorder, it is possible to copy video to dvd using my laptop or do I require additional hardware. I've seen in my local tesco's of all places a DVD/Video recorders, are these any good?

Plextor's latest gizmo as seen in the Jan 08 issue of PCA looks just what you need, price £40.

Its by far the easiest to stick your videos on dvd with a recorder unless you want to do a lot of editing . dont know about the quality of Tescos dvd/t\aape set up but if you already have a vhs recorder you would be better buying just a dvd recordr

Sorry missed the bit about the camcorder if you have firewire connection on your lap top you could put tyour footage straight to the laptop then to dvd
