Video Card going u/s

  Richardx 20:44 15 Sep 2008

Looking for some advice please. Switched on the computer tonight and my screen has a number of very pale yellow columns equally spaced out across it. Thought screen might be on the blink but have just connected it to a laptop (as a secondary screen) and it appears ok.

Now wondering if the graphics card is on the way out? Any suggestions gratefully received.

The system is an Evesham 3400 Ultra which is over 4 years old:

Intel Pentium 4 3.4Ghz
Igb DDR Ram
Win XP Pro (fully updated etc)
Viewsonic VP191
Radeon 9800 Pro 256mb DDR Graphics

Thx, Richard

Could be.. the monitor cable is not connected properly, Graphics card drivers are corrupt or as you suggest the card itself.

Thanks for the response.

It appears to be an issue related to the latest ati drivers and directx.

At the moment I can have the display working but no directx games!

Seems like ATI were having problems with their drivers back at the end of last year...

Suggestion is using the old drivers.
Hope this helps.
