Using TV as lap top monitor

  gel 10:34 20 Jan 2010

I am attempting to use my tv (Sony LCD Digital KDL 26S30xx) as a monitor for my Dell Insiron 1300 lap top(basically to show photo's)
I am using a HDMI cable but I am getting message on TV
'out of range'
Any suggestions please

Does the TV have a VGA Port? If so, that is I believe, the only way you would be able to use the TV as a monitor for your Dell 1300.

Thanks for reply Technotiger
Yes it does have a VGA port and I have been connected to the TV using the port designated

On the L T Desk top I right click and in properties chose the monitor Then on the TV screen I get message 'out of range'

Right-click on Desktop then choose Properties>Settings>Advanced>Monitor and then experiment with changing the Refresh Rate.

Before connecting your lappy to the TV set the resolution to 800 x 600. Connect to the TV and alter your resolution when you can see the picture.

Thanks a lot.
I will away and try your ideas
I am sure there is a resolution.

Thank you GANDALF <|:-)>
It solved the problem and I can now bore any one with about 9000 pictures on TV
If I don't go to sleep watching them like the rest of the viewers
