Using SFC without a cd disk?

  bof:) 09:44 29 Jun 2007

Hi all, is it possible to use sfc on winXP home without the windows disk?

Why I ask is because in an ongoing posting for a riend some of his 'Services' have become disabled, will sfc reset them?

He says he has never had an XP disk or as far as he's aware a restore disk.

I believe there is a restore option in a seperate D drive.

Sometime's it will run without Xp home disc,If your friend can borrow a proper Windows XP home disc from a friend .They should be able to use that.

You dont need the CD if you have a Recovery Partition on the hard drive. If you have that you wont be prompted for the CD.

As in rawprawns link, see if there is an I386 folder. If there is, you may have to move it so it is C:\I386.

Then amend the SourcePath to read C:
If there is no SourcePath, you will have to add it.
