Has anybody used one of the firms to recover dat and photos when a hard drive has failed and have not had the information on a seperate storage device such as an external hard drive. I may have to use one. I know it will not be cheap. Any information much appreciated.

Have you thought about removing the drive, and trying it in a caddy?

Cost will depend on what is wrong with the drive and if the platters are damaged you may not even get back the data you require.

I have used a firm, I think it was this one - click here They only charged for what they could recover. They recovered data after I had formatted the drive. I had missed some data the owner had saved in an odd location, ooops.

The first question must be. What caused the Hard Drive to fail?
